The History of ET

One of the most complete summaries on the history of ET is provided in the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) Document No. 589 "Proceedings of the Workshop on Eddy Current Nondestructive Testing, held at the National Bureau of Standards, Gaithersburg, Maryland, on November 3-4, 1977", edited by George M. Free.   The NBS document contains many papers on the state of Eddy Current Testing as of the mid-1970s. Pages 1-25 of the document contains the paper titled, "THE HISTORY, PRESENT STATUS, AND FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS OF EDDY CURRENT TESTS", by Robert C. McMaster, author of ASNT's original Nondestructive Testing Handbook.
